Galatians 3
Galatians 3:24
So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.
Paul uses an interesting metaphor to describe the role of the law. Back in the day, a guardian was an esteemed servant who attended the child from home to school and then back home again. He wasn't the teacher, but he conducted safe passage for his student. He had general charge over his pupil until he reached the age of maturity. That’s the role the law had in our life. He took us to the schoolhouse, so that we can learn from our teacher who is Christ. He was never our teacher, but he was, and, for those who are yet to meet Jesus, still is our faithful guardian.
