Exodus 28-30

Daily devotional from Exodus 28-30--

And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty.
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭28:2‬ ‭

When they go into the tent of meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister, to burn a food offering to the Lord, they shall wash with water, so that they may not die.
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭30:20‬ ‭

We all have had the experience - after we have been tent camping for a few days, exposed to dust and dirt and campfire smoke; or after we have been working hard outside in the yard during the hot summer months. We are ready to get out of the dirty, smelly garments, get a shower and put on fresh clothes. Clean and fresh - isn’t it a great feeling?

This is what God wants for us spiritually.

In Old Testament times, priests had to wash and put on consecrated garments before serving the Lord.

Today, in New Testament times, we are to take off dirty garments, such as lies, anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk. (Col. 3:8-10)

We are to put on clean clothes, such as compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another, forgiving each other. And above all put on love. (Col. 3:12-14)

When we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

God wants us spiritually fresh and clean - dressed in robes of righteousness. It’s a great feeling!
