Numbers 24-25

Daily Devotional from Numbers 24--

Verse 2
And Balaam lifted up his eyes and saw Israel camping tribe by tribe. And the Spirit of God came upon him...

From reading the Scriptures you might assume that the prophet Balaam was a good guy. After all, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him; he would only bless the children of Israel and not curse them, in spite of the great riches  he was offered.

Perhaps the temptation of riches was too great, because later in the Scriptures, we find Balaam counseled the enemy king Balak how to put stumbling blocks before the sons of Israel. They would eat things sacrificed to idols and commit acts of immorality. (Rev. 2:14)

Just because someone is used of God does not make that one perfect, and just because one is not perfect, does not mean one can’t be used of the Lord.

Don’t wait until you’re perfect before you’re willing to be used by the Lord. It will never happen. While it’s true that God desires us to be holy, He also understands our humanity. Is anyone worthy but Jesus?

So, go out there and do your part. He has a job that only you can accomplish. Ask Him what it is, and “Just do it!”
