Deuteronomy 16-17
Daily Devotional from Deuteronomy 16--
Verse 6
On the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses the one who is to die shall be put to death; a person shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness.
Interesting, sometimes things are misheard or misinterpreted. But without other witnesses, it may hold no credibility. Especially when it comes to serious matters, isn’t it important to know the truth before sending a person to prison on a false accusation? In Israel at the time if they were caught serving other gods, they faced death by stoning! How many people do you think were innocently stoned to death?
In today’s culture let’s be careful with the information we decide to run with especially concerning another person. Let’s consider, weigh, and see how credible the accusations may be. Let’s not be quick to point the finger or jump to conclusions. We may be causing harm to someone who is innocent!
