2 Samuel 4-5

Daily Devotional from 2 Samuel 5--

Verse 5
And David came to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there. And he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me like a breaking flood.”  Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim.

I find it fascinating the significance of the names of people and places in the Bible. You see it all throughout scripture where either a child or a place is named to address the situation of the day or some kind of future hope, or promise or a miraculous event. Like in this verse Baal-perazim means “Lord of breaking through.”

And today God is still that and now He has broken through the curse of sin in our lives and freed us and given us believers salvation. Move forward with the knowledge that our God is a God of breakthrough so when you’re under pressure and going through trials remember who our God is! God will bring you through it one way or another.
