2 Samuel 9-11

Weekly Devotional from 2 Samuel 11--

Verse 27
But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord.

It’s funny, this story is written so matter-of-factly. David did his dirty deed and quickly got back to business. No sting of conscience. No throb of regret. And I’m afraid, sometimes, we’re no different than David. We sin against our brother and move on with our life.

“But the thing displeased the Lord.”

It’s as if we forget the Lord matters. It’s as if we forget He cares. But He does. Immensely!
In all your comings and goings, please remember, that even though you may not see it and feel it, God does, and he can be your true north. So, make sure to check in with him. But if, for some reason, you get locked into the moment, you can know that, in his mercy, he will provide a way out. He cares too much to let you be unaware of your sin.
