Ecclesiastes 10-12
Daily Devotional from Ecclesiastes 10—
Verse 20
Even in your thoughts, do not curse the king, nor in your bedroom curse the rich,
for a bird of the air will carry your voice, or some winged creature tell the matter.
“The walls have ears” have you ever heard that quote? It means nothing goes unheard, so don’t talk bad about other people. It’d be silly to think that walls or birds could tell somebody what you have said about them. But somehow people always find out what’s been said. Things said in the dark come to the light. We should always be careful to use good speech about anyone - not just for their sake, but for our own. If someone talks bad about many people to you, you know that they are capable of speaking the same way about you. When we honor people with our speech, we also honor God because people were made in His image.
So let’s speak about people in ways that if they heard it, it would bring them closer to Christ.
