Isaiah 31-32

Daily Devotional from Isaiah 31--

Verse 1
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the LORD!

The Israelites were afraid and were turning to Egypt—their former oppressor—for aid. Even though they had been warned by Isaiah not to turn to them.

It’s easy when we are afraid to look for our own solutions, but God asks us to look to Him first in times of trouble. In our fear, we can see certain decisions as better because at the time they seem to be smart or strengthening—but God would tell us that without Him, those decisions are foolish. In any circumstance we face, let’s remember to ask the Holy Spirit for direction first, before anything else.
