Coronavirus Contingency Plan & Resources

Updated May 6, 2020
Due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, and the protective measures set in place by the government, we will be suspending Sunday morning gatherings indefinitely. These measures have been taken to slow the spread of the virus and to keep people healthy, which is, as a church,
one of our highest values. So, although our Sunday morning gatherings are canceled, church has not been canceled. Church, as you know, is not an event, but a family. So, while practicing social distancing, we will simultaneously practice relational engagement. And the following plan, constructed by our elders, will help us continue to engage as a community of prayer, worship, and giving.

Livestream
Every Sunday at 10am, Demetrius will address the church on our YouTube channel. He will be offering a word of encouragement from the Scriptures. Every first Sunday of the month staff and elders will record our service with announcements, call to worship, music, prayer, and an encouraging message. If you miss Sunday morning, you can always go back and watch it later, under The Online Gatherings playlist. Before each Sunday gathering, Tony Caiazza will host an interactive online pre-gathering prayer session - click the link to call or video in! https://us04web.zoom.us/j/8851857852

Outdoor Church
Beginning July 5th at 10am, we will start gathering on the field and in the parking lot of our office building at 500 NW 20th Street, Gresham, OR 97030. The field is plenty large enough for people to sit 6' apart! Bring your own camp chairs or blanket to sit on the field, or stay in your car and tune in to our radio station! We'll have some canopies if the sun is too warm for you, and we'll have activities for the kids to do while they sit with you. Please enter the lot through the north entrance. In order to keep everyone safe, we will bring refreshments around to you, but no restrooms will be available.

Reading Plan
As a church we are following a Through-the-New-Testament-in-a-Year reading plan. It’s never too late to jump on board. It’s one of the greatest ways to stay spiritually fed and do it right alongside your church family. You can find the reading guides posted online here: gen-church.com/bible-reading-plan. Every weekday we produce a devotion that is in line with our daily reading and with our daily lives, located at: gen-church.com/devotional, and on our Facebook Page.

Pastoral Visitations
If you call Generations Church home, you can expect a call over the next weeks from one of our staff or elders. We would love to visit with you by phone and, when appropriate, in person, for the purposes of encouragement and prayer. Unfortunately, however, many retirement centers are temporarily closed to outside visitation.

Small Groups
Our current guidelines prohibit groups if social distancing can't be maintained, so we are engaging in outdoor meetings or using the large lobby of The Office for indoor small group meetings.
A couple of options are available.
  • Men’s Bible Study, Friday mornings at 6am (starting again July 10). Contact Demetrius to join.
  • Women’s Bible Study, Tuesday mornings at 11am (starting again August 4). Contact Audrey to join.
  • The NXGEN Youth Group continues to meet weekly! Follow nxgen_gresham on Instagram for daily Bible reflections with Robin at 10am. Meet at The Office every Thursday night at 7pm for Youth Group Live! Contact Robin for more info.

Grocery Assistance
If anyone in our community, or beyond, needs transportation to the grocery store, delivery of groceries, or financial assistance with groceries during this season, Generations Church would love to be of assistance when we can, even with transportation to medical appointments. Please send requests and inquiries to info@gen-church.com.

Online Giving
One of the best ways of displaying your trust in the Lord is supporting your local church through tithes and offerings. It allows the church to stay on mission and reminds us that God can take care of us as we seek first the kingdom. Please make your online contributions at gen-church.com/give, or you may mail them to 500 NW 20th St, Suite 201, Gresham, OR 97030. You can also text any amount to 84321.
