Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.
Has Jesus ever led you to do something and you gave him a response like this?
Jesus, I know you’re the master and all, but I happen to be the expert here. I have 20 years in my field. I have 30 years in my marriage. I know what it takes, I know what’s required. I’ve done that before, and it hasn’t worked. But… (insert exasperated sigh), if this is what you want, I’ll give it a shot, (cough, cough) just don’t expect it to work.
Oh, we do and say the right things, don’t we? But we don’t actually believe it’ll work. Until it does! And we realize we’ve been a patronizing fool.
