John 2:24-25
Jesus did not entrust himself to them… for he knew what was in man.
People love you when times are good but when times get tough they seem to duck out. People can be flighty and undependable. People change their minds and switch loyalties. They bounce from one thing to another. And this can be said of us all. And, as we can see in this passage today, Jesus knew it all too well.
Therefore, he did not give himself to people, but he did give himself for people.
That’s Good News! Listen to Tim Keller describe: “The gospel is this-- We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time, we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.”
