Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
Do you take someone else’s word for it or do you verify it for yourself? I hope you do the latter, especially when it comes to the Word of God. I hope you don’t believe your pastor, just because he’s your pastor. Or your denomination, just because it’s your denomination. Or your political party, just because it’s your party. Or your mother, just because she’s your mother. But that you go to the source yourself—the living and abiding Word of God. We’re grateful for teachers and guides, but all faithful teachers and guides will strengthen your connection to the source, not diminish it.
