1 Corinthians 13

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13

Without love, we are nothing (v2) and we have nothing (v3). We are worse than nothing - we are an annoyance (v1). But it's not too difficult to find love within ourselves - how do we know if we have love? Verses 4-7 give a pretty good description of the fruit that will be in our lives if we have love. But Jesus qualifies the way we are to love even further in Matthew 5 and Luke 6. Because it's easy to love those who love us - even the greatest of sinners can manage that. Jesus tells us to love our enemies, and to lavish gifts on those who cannot repay us. That is true love - actively loving (with our thoughts, words and deeds and not just our hearts) those who cannot or will not love us in return. Jesus set the example for us in dying for ALL - including for those who would not receive his gift. Let's love like Jesus today!
