Ephesians 1

Ephesians 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.

One of the most repeated words in this first chapter is the small little word “in.” But what a huge concept! We hear the phrase, “Are you in?” “Oh yeah, I’m in!” Leading out of the Seattle Seahawks’ locker room is a sign that reads, “I’m in!” It’s declaration that I belong. This is my team. This is my purpose. This is my identity. I’m a Seahawk. I’m in!

This captures the meaning of the word well. “In” means to be enclosed or surrounded by. It describes our location and position. And notice where that’s at: In Christ. What a beautiful concept—enclosed and surrounded by Jesus himself! He is our habitat, our environment, our culture. He is the air we breathe. He is the thoughts we think. He is the words we speak. When we say “in Christ,” we are saying we have found our home.
