1 John 1

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We recently had a rat living in our barbeque. I wanted to ignore the fact that he was there. So, I put it out of my mind. But after our hound kept sniffing the unit with keen interest, I finally admitted we had to take care of the problem. I knocked the grill with a broom stick out came the varmint scuttling under the fence. Apparently, he was feasting on the grease that had collected in the drip pan. So, I removed the pan and sprayed down the unit.
But if you think that’s bad, sin is infinitely worse. We know the dirty vermin is in there, but we put it out of our mind. However, the hound of heaven won’t let it alone. So, we finally muster the courage and admit we have a problem. But, you see, the only way to relinquish yourself of the sin is to rat yourself out. Go ahead and lift the lid and let Jesus cleanse your heart.
