Numbers 34-35

Daily Devotional from Numbers 35—

Verse 33
You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it.

He’s talking specifically about murder. Murder pollutes the land. Most of us probably have not murdered anyone. But 1 John 3:15 says that whoever hates their brother or sister commits murder in their heart and does not have eternal life abiding in them. Ouch! There has been much hatred in our nation in the last year. It pollutes our land. What is the antidote? Love.

We cannot drown out hatred with anger, the only way to overcome it is by spreading love. All of Jesus’ teaching boiled down to this: Love God and Love Your Neighbor. Love is Action. And we need Jesus’ help to love those who are hard to love. Pray. Pray that God will heal our land of the hate that has polluted it. And don’t be surprised when the tool He uses to bring that healing is YOU – showing and speaking love to your family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and enemies.
