1 Kings 6-7

Daily Devotional from 1 Kings 6--

Verse 7
When the house was built, it was with stone prepared at the quarry, so that neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was being built.

Have you ever wondered why there were so many exact specifications that needed to be followed in building the temple? Just one of the restrictions is listed in the verse above.
Whatever the reason, how could any building made by man be worthy to house the presence of a perfect, all-powerful and glorious Creator?

It couldn’t!

But the wonderful truth is that the Creator chose to occupy it - not because the people built a wonderful structure, but because he wanted to have close relationship with His people.
God no longer resides in a physical structure. In 2 Corinthians 6, we learn that the church (His people) are His temple. It is not because of what we have done to earn this privilege, but it’s because of what Christ has done by the shedding of His precious blood. God has chosen to walk and dwell among us - His church.

Praise God!
