2 Kings 16-17
Daily Devotional from 2 Kings 17--
Verse 18
None was left but the tribe of Judah only.
In chapter 17, the nation of Israel came to a complete and total collapse. Nothing was left, but the tribe of Judah only. And there will be a day when this world will look a lot like Israel. Completely devastated. God will have issued his warnings (as he did in verse 13), but sinful humanity is bent on its own way (verse 14). And, like back then, nothing will be left, but the tribe of Judah only.
What a curious little phrase. But the tribe of Judah only.
Back then “Judah” was a reminder of David. However, today it is a reminder of his Son, Jesus (Revelation 5:5). And only those who are numbered in His tribe will be spared the judgement to come. The tribe of Judah only.
