Matthew 21
Daily Devotional from Matthew 21--
Verse 18
In the morning, as he was returning to the city, he became hungry.
Jesus was God and man!
When we hear or read about Jesus, we often think of His Godly attributes - like His ability to heal disease, forgive sin, raise the dead, or love unconditionally. But the verse above reminds us that He was human as well. He got hungry!
Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. Jesus was fully God and fully man at the same time.
Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty mankind deserves for our sin, and to restore our broken relationship with a loving and just God - providing a redeemed nature and promise of a changed heart.
His dual nature was necessary.
God didn’t sin, humans did; so humans must pay the penalty. A blood sacrifice was required. A spirit (God) could not be it.
A single human could not pay the penalty for the sin of all mankind. And only a perfect sacrifice would be acceptable. Only God could provide that.
Problems solved. Jesus - God and man!
