Luke 10
Daily Devotional from Luke 10—
Verse 40
But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.”
Martha was concerned about doing lots of things for Jesus and His disciples. But Mary just wanted to sit at His feet and learn from Him.
It’s so easy to get caught up in doing the right things, or really just keeping busy, that we forget to just sit and be with Jesus. Our world teaches us to stay busy. Ritualism teaches us to keep on doing more and more—that we aren’t doing enough. BUT JESUS teaches us to enter into His rest. To slow down and just be with Him, because He’s got it taken care of. We don’t need to be enough because Jesus is more than enough.
Let’s remember to sit with Jesus.
