Luke 19

Daily Devotional from Luke 19—

Verses 38-40
“Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples. He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

God often uses us to spread His glory and praise him among humankind. We worship God because He is worthy and the praise is due. But I find something comforting in this statement Jesus is making. “If these were silent the very stones would cry out.” Jesus is saying He’s going to get his due praise whether we are in it or not. See, we depend on God but God doesn’t depend on us. We can’t stop Him and we can’t stop the fact that all of creation praises him. Psalm 66:4 says, “All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.”

So again, God isn’t dependent on our worship and praise but He still enjoys it! Let’s agree with the rest of creation and let’s find our own heart songs to sing to the Lord today.
