Verse 12
I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel.
Opposition never hinders the gospel! If anything, it only accelerates it.
Think of communist China. China is officially an atheist country, yet it’s on course to be the world’s most populous Christian nation within 15 years. Chairman Mao wanted to eliminate religion, but isn’t it ironic that within one generation of his death, the country should have more Christians than any other country in the world?
Also, think of John Bunyan who was thrown into prison, only to preach so loud, people would hear it on the streets. Then, in response, they put him in the lower dungeons. So, he pens the Pilgrim’s Progress – the most read book outside of the Bible!
The gospel! You can try to snuff it out, but I’m afraid you’re only going to be stoking the flame.
