Daily Devotional from 2 Peter 2—
Verse 19
They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.
Sin is attractive. It’s easy to get sucked into things if we don’t have a strong community to hold us accountable. The world makes it seem easier to just give into our fleshly desires, but we’ve all seen the destruction that sin brings to ourselves and those around us.
It might look good, but looks are deceiving. There is bondage and pain that comes from living to sin, so much more than a moment of pleasure. In Jesus, we have true freedom—freedom from sin and death, and freedom to be in His presence!
So, how do we keep from being enticed away from life in the Spirit? We read the Word, we ask the Holy Spirit to keep filling us when we pray, and we engage in community with believers.
So today, take heart, we have the truest freedom of all in Jesus Christ.
