Verse 38b
The word that God puts in my mouth, that must I speak.
Nothing could convince Balaam to say other than what God wanted him to say. If you search www.openbible.info for 'what does the Bible say about how we should talk' you will find a LOT! Our words can bring life or death. They can build up and tear down. Just like God didn't want Balaam cursing his people, He doesn't want us to speak unbecomingly of others.
It can be a struggle at times! But Colossians 4:6 encourages us to "Let your speech always be gracious" and if we follow 1 Thessalonians 5:11 and "encourage one another and build one another up" then we will be the words of Jesus to people!
The next time you’re tempted to say or write something ungracious, STOP: instead, say what you wish they would say about you. Right now, let someone come to mind, then call or text them and tell them what you love about them! SPEAK LIFE.
