Deuteronomy 4-5
Daily Devotional from Deuteronomy 4--
Verse 19
And beware lest you raise your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, you be drawn away and bow down to them and serve them, things that the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.
As humans, we are so prone to wander. So easily influenced to worship things of the earth or the stars. We fall into the trap of believing that things like zodiac signs will actually direct our lives! Madness - who has the right to direct our lives? The King only, the Maker of all these things. God’s creation is beautiful but the power is not in the creation.
Our God is a jealous God. Imagine spending much time and effort hand-crafting a beautiful gift for someone. When they received it from you, they loved it, and became obsessed with it but they don’t appreciate you at all - the one who made and gave the gift! Only God - not his creation - is worthy of our worship.
