Deuteronomy 10-11

Daily Devotional from Deuteronomy10—

Verses 12-13
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?

As parents, we set rules and boundaries for our kids. ‘Do this…don’t do that…’ Is it because we want to restrict or punish them? No – rules are in place because we love them and we want what’s best for them. Boundaries are like the guardrails on the side of a mountain road that keep us from going over the edge of the cliff! God’s rules are FOR OUR GOOD and if we obey these verses – loving and serving God with all our heart and soul – then following his rules becomes easy and as Jesus says in John 15:11, we will be filled with joy; indeed our joy will overflow and splash out on those around us! Let’s choose daily to love, serve, and obey our God and just see how his heavenly joy will sustain us through difficult times in life!
