1 Kings 2-3

Daily Devotional from 1 Kings 3--

Verse 26
He shall be neither mine nor yours.

The phrase “misery loves company” means that if someone is miserable, they want others to be miserable as well so they can feel better about themselves. And since the lady in this story already lost a baby, she didn’t particularly mind if the other lost hers as well.

Unfortunately, life is full of these kinds of people. They try to make you miserable cause they want a little company. They don’t have dreams, so they will rob you of yours. They don’t have joy, so they will make sure you don’t either. They don’t have a life, and they are threatened by anybody who does.

So, please, don’t allow them to drag you down. But if they do, you can know there is a King on the throne who can restore to you what was rightfully yours. And when he does, pick up your joy and carry on.
