Acts 20

Daily Devotional from Acts 20—

Verse 24
But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

It’s natural to fear death, but Paul didn’t. He knew that his end was near, and he rested in the assurance he had in Christ. He knew that if he died, he would be welcomed by the presence of God. And he knew that he lived doing what he was called to do—preach the gospel.

We don’t need to fear death. We have assurance in Christ to where we are headed! But, it’s so natural and innate to fear death because it is the unknown. As Christians, we hold in balance a healthy fear of death (not doing stupid stuff, caring for ourselves) and not fearing if we die. In fact, our greatest concern should be for those around us who will die without knowing Christ.

Today, pray for those you know who don’t know Christ and ask the Holy Spirit to open their hearts to the Gospel, so that they too can have full assurance in Christ.
