1 Corinthians 1

Daily Devotional from 1 Corinthians 1--

Verse 10
I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.

Does this verse mean that everyone in the Church must think the same about everything? Absolutely not! But, we see in the church of Corinth that people were quarreling about whose teachings they followed. Paul makes it clear that we are to be united in our following of Jesus Christ.

It’s still easy today to be divided just like the church in Corinth. Some of us say, “I follow this celebrity pastor,” and others of us say, “Well, I follow this other influential Christian leader,” but the only one who we should be following is Jesus. Of course, we can be discipled by many different brothers and sisters in Christ—but they should never take the place of Jesus and His Word in our lives.

Today, whether it's different Christian teachers we like, different politicians we support, or different views on hot-button issues, let’s not be divided—but embrace unity in the Church under Jesus Christ.
