Romans 10

Daily Devotional from Romans 10--

Verse 1 (CSB)
Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God concerning them is for their salvation.

Has there ever been someone you really hoped got what was coming to them? I think we all have. When we are working through our negative feelings toward someone, this verse really cuts right to the heart.

Paul was severely persecuted by Jewish leaders that didn’t like what he was preaching. They were coming in and stirring up trouble for the Roman Church. Yet, Paul’s attitude isn’t to hope they get what they deserve—but to receive precisely what they DON’T deserve, forgiveness and compassion from God.

If there is someone who you dislike (whether that is a person in your life, a political leader, a public figure or even a group of people), ask God for a heart of compassion toward them. Pray for their salvation. Desire God’s mercy for them.

And as 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says— never stop praying.
