Isaiah 39-40

Daily Devotional from Isaiah 40—

Verse 5
And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

In 2013, I climbed a mountain. It wasn’t just a hike (like I thought it would be), but a full-on mountain summit. For 3 ½ days, my body worked its way up the side of this Canadian mountain through forests, snow, and ice. It was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done. I hated everything about that climb. My body was in so much pain and was filled with the anxiety of falling.

Yet, reaching the top of that mountain was--- Breathtaking. Glorious. The view was… well, I can’t think of a word to adequately describe the view. The words that I want to use (beautiful, awe-inspiring, breathtaking, etc.,) don’t do it justice.

Isaiah says that the glory of the Lord will be revealed--and that everyone will see it. Mountains will be flattened and valleys will be raised so that all people can see it. There is nothing blocking the glory of God. It isn’t found by climbing mountains or hidden in caves. It is found in the saving grace of Jesus that is available to every person who receives it.

Have you received it yet? It is the most precious, indescribable gift you’ll ever possess.
