Jeremiah 31-32

Daily Devotional from ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31--

Verses 33-34
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

In the Old Testament, God wrote his Law on stone tablets and gave them to Moses to take down from the mountain to present to His people. If the people obeyed they were promised prosperity, but if they disobeyed they were promised judgment.

In Jeremiah, we see the prophecy of a new and better covenant, where God will write His Law on the hearts of His people.

We are His people and our sins are forgiven, if we accept God’s sacrifice of His Son on our behalf. We are grafted into His family. (Rom. 10:13; 11: 17)

We will obey God, not merely because we fear punishment for failure, nor do we obey just to get rewarded. We will obey not because we have to, but because we want to. The Law of Cursing and Blessing is overwhelmed by the Law of Love.

How blessed we are!
