Daily Devotional from Proverb 2—
Verses 16-17
So you will be delivered from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words, who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God…
How do we find wisdom in Proverbs when it seems like it doesn’t apply? I mean, I am not tempted by forbidden women. What can I get from this? Well, try replacing the idea of a ‘forbidden woman’ in these verses with whatever DOES tempt you to find your fulfillment and joy in it instead of God.
Seeking God’s wisdom can deliver us from that which is Not His Will for us - from that which might look Good, but which will draw us away from God. You’ll be walking along, focused on Him, and not even know you just passed inches by a pit of spiritual despair and death. Seek His wisdom in life by studying His word alone and with friends, learning from Bible teachers, and surrounding yourself with people who love Jesus, then you will be shielded from many temptations.
