Psalm 108
Daily Devotional from Psalm 108—
Verse 3
I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations.
Many years ago, as I was getting to know my co-workers at a new job, I learned that one of them had only had one child, and that child had died very young due to meningitis. Moved with compassion and the love of a parent, I asked him, “How did you survive that loss?” and his response was simply “God.”
What’s interesting is that I would not have considered this guy to be a Christ-follower. The life he lived seemed to suggest otherwise. But he knew when to give credit to God. Do we? We who follow Christ – when someone asks how we made it through something hard, do we immediately give God the credit? When we are having a great day, do we tell people how awesome He is? We should! We are here to be a witness! Whether we win or lose, we should give him the praise among the peoples!
