Deuteronomy 18-19
Daily Devotional from Deuteronomy 18--
Verse 18
I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.
Even in Moses’s time, prophecies were being made about Jesus. In John 5, Jesus was talking about the witnesses that prove He is the Messiah; He ends the passage by saying, “…if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me”. In both these passages, we are urged to take to heart Jesus’ words—because they are the very words of God.
How many times have we refused to listen to Jesus? The Bible has His words recorded for us to read, reflect on, and live. We mess up, but Jesus offers us grace, even when we fall short. Today, reflect on your life and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you if there is an area you aren’t taking Jesus’s words seriously. Look for passages where that area you’re struggling with is talked about, and use it as encouragement today (memorize it, hang up a notecard, read it daily).
