1 Kings 8-9

Daily Devotional from 1 Kings 8--

Verse 66 (CSB)
On the fifteenth day [Solomon] sent the people away. So they blessed the king and went to their homes rejoicing and with happy hearts for all the goodness that the Lord had done for his servant David and for his people Israel.

God officially dwells in the Temple! His glory filled the temple with a dark cloud and ALL OF ISRAEL was present to witness it! Israel has been settled in the promised land with kings, but this was the finale--God had approved of the house they built and came to live amongst them in a fixed place! This was good news! The relationship between God and humanity was in a good place, and that was so exciting for all of Israel. Solomon was proving to be a wise and godly king and everything was coming up roses!

Notice that the people were rejoicing for how God has been good to the whole of Israel. As you reflect on this verse, think of how God has been good to the Church (both local and global). How has God been faithful? How has he sustained the Church through difficult times? How has he been good to Generations Church specifically? Let’s thank him and praise him with deep, unrelenting joy for his goodness today.
