Daily Devotional from Jeremiah 13--

Verse 25

This is your lot, the portion I have measured out to you, declares the Lord, because you have forgotten me and trusted in lies.

The Israelites had chosen time and time again to ignore the teachings God had given them. They trusted in the false prophets who were saying what they wanted to hear. Even when God called them to repentance, they continued to disobey Him. 

Many times we would rather listen to what sounds good over what is true. It can be easy to trust what we want to hear, but the truth can pierce our hearts and challenge us deeply. Even though it’s not always easy to trust in Jesus, it’s better for us in the long run. Jesus is the only way to freedom from death, and when we trust Him we choose the path of life. Today, let’s remember to not choose the easy path of what sounds nice, but the hard path of remembering and trusting in Jesus.
