Mark 1

Daily Devotional from Mark 1—

Verse 18
And immediately they left their nets and followed him.

Imagine you’re working and someone comes up to you and says, “come follow me.” That would be a huge interruption to our day. We’d think of all the reasons we can’t, and we’d even wonder why they’re asking us such a thing.

Jesus asks us to drop everything to follow Him. Following Jesus may be inconvenient and uncomfortable at times. But the joy we find in simple obedience to Him is greater than any inconvenience. Trusting in Jesus means that we no longer are a part of this world and what it stands for. We must choose to obey the Holy Spirit’s leading throughout our day, which may cause some interruptions or some uncomfortable encounters.

It’s easy to want to live in the pattern of this world, to avoid interruption—but Jesus is calling out to us and giving us direction for our day.

Will you listen to Him?
