Mark 14

Daily Devotional from Mark 14--

Verses 3-4
While [Jesus] was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as he was reclining at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured it on his head. But some were expressing indignation to one another: “Why has this perfume been wasted?"

Have you ever been made to feel as if your offering to God was inconsequential? That something you poured your heart into was looked on as dumb or not needed?

Those around Jesus were making this woman feel as if she did something wrong by offering this precious gift to Jesus instead of feeding the poor.

But Jesus, knowing their hearts, stood up for her. He told them that she had done a noble thing and that she would be known throughout history.

What you have to offer is not inconsequential, dumb, or a waste. God sees your desire to honor him and calls you noble.

Those in the world (and sometimes in the Church) can be unkind and uncharitable with what they believe to be “right.” But God sees your heart and he honors you when humans don’t.
