Mark 11

Daily Devotional from Mark 11--

Verses 1-3
Now when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it
and bring it. If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and
will send it back here immediately.’”

In Jesus' day, donkeys were used for making life easier: hauling firewood, groceries, water, even
transportation the same way we use our cars today. Donkeys made their lives easier the same
way my car makes my life much more convenient.

As I read this passage, I wondered, what would I do, think, or say if I looked outside and someone was getting into my car to take it and said the Lord needs it and He will bring it back.
I wonder if I would be so generous and just watch my car drive out of my driveway. How would I
respond if someone said the Lord needs it? It’s one thing to run an errand for someone or give
someone a ride, but to watch it go without any type of protest or question?

Father, help me hold what I have with open hands so that you can use what you need, when
you need it.
