Daily Devotional from Luke 14--
Luke 14:16b-18
A man once gave a great banquet and invited many. And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ But they all alike began to make excuses.
Despite the normal kinds of things they mentioned, each of the invited men could have attended the graciously prepared meal. Since they refused, the host invited the neediest within his city. When there was still more room, he told his servant to go outside his city to the “highways and hedges” and compel people to come.
This parable shows us how our Heavenly Father feels about us. He invites us to feast at His banquet. He wants his house to be full, so since we have accepted his generous offer, now we as his servants are to go out and invite anyone we can find to join us.
The Lord invites us into his presence daily to feast on his word. Let’s not make excuses for why we cannot. Instead, let us run to partake of his kindness. Let’s go beyond our comfort zones to compel others to come to him, to fill his house.
