John 8

Daily Devotional from John 8--

Verse 58
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

Jesus claimed to be God. “I am” was the name God told Moses to use when referring to Him.

The Jews knew what Jesus was claiming and tried to stone Him for blasphemy.

Some people think of Jesus as a great moral teacher.

C S Lewis said, “A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic—on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg—or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. (Mere Christianity, 55)”

As God, He is worthy not of just our praise, but of our worship!
