James 2

Daily Devotional from James 2--

Verse 26

For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

Faith is empty if it doesn’t truly impact our actions. James was deeply concerned about believers having compassion for others because of their faith in Jesus Christ. This whole passage, he talks about treating the poor and the rich equally as well as caring for those in need.

Our faith in Jesus should be changing us. As we grow in relationship with Him, we will desire the things that He desires. A huge part of Jesus’s desire for believers is for us to care for the widow, the orphan, and the foreigner—we see this all throughout the Bible. And living in Gresham, I believe we have numerous amounts of opportunities to show compassion to our neighbors. It’s important that we take our faith and put it to action to share the Good News of Christ!

So today, ask the Holy Spirit how He is calling you to action in our community.
