Psalm 120

Daily Devotional from Psalm 120—

Verse 7
I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war!

Do you know someone who always has to argue every point? They thrive off playing the devil’s advocate, and you feel like you can’t make any statement to them without them counteracting it somehow? I often find it exhausting to have a conversation with people like that. Because I am for peace, as the psalmist says.

But those who love peace must often choose peace. In our world of moral struggles and constant contradictions, we have to choose not to argue for arguments’ sake or for the sake of our own pride. We have to choose sometimes to let things go, let people have contrary opinions, and choose to focus on what we have in common rather than what separates us. This helps bring peace and unity, and allows the fruit of the Spirit to blossom more on earth. Let’s be peacemakers today!
