John 21

Daily Devotional from John 21--

Verse 17
He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.”

This last chapter of John is so powerful. Peter had betrayed Jesus 3 times, and now Jesus gave Peter the chance to tell Him he loved Him 3 times. Not only that, but Jesus commissions Peter to disciple new believers.

Jesus didn’t look at Peter’s denial and say, “Well, now you cannot serve me.” Instead, He told Peter, “Feed my sheep.” And that’s the beauty of the grace of God. He doesn’t look at what we’ve done, but at who He’s called us to be. Peter wasn’t limited in his ministry because he denied Jesus—he had a powerful ministry spreading the Good News!

Whatever sin you have done—Jesus’s blood washes it all away. He has made you a new creation! What a joy it is to live in the freedom of Christ!
