Verse 5

The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

What should be the motive of church leaders as they minister to the people in their church? Paul tells us in this verse. 

It is not to gain popularity or reputation, but to share God’s love with His children. This love comes from faith in God and a belief that it is God’s work that is being accomplished. This love prevents misguided teaching and rejection of truth.

Pray for your leaders that they get more of this love to share.
